Laptop with Touchscreen Keyboard

NajmTek, a new company from the USA has announced they will introduce a laptop with two screens at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas

The new lapop is named the “U-Book”, which stands for Universal Notebook. THe universal part of the laptop is that the keyboard is replaced by a touchscreen. This way the keyboard layout can be changed easily, besides that the users are able to create their own keyboard layout which can come in handy if you are a gamer.

The U-Book is intended to be a desktop replacement and therefore it isn’t focussed on portability. (read: it has a thick body and is quite heavy) Specifications are expected to be announced at the CES exhibition.

This is not the first time we see a touchscreen keyboard, Russian company Art. Lebedev Studio already introduced the Optimus Tactus keyboard early 2008. Although this Optimus Tactus keyboard is very slick, it has never been a real succes, partly due to the price and availability. Therefore we wonder if the NajmTek U-Book will be a success, especially since typing on a touchscreen is very different than typing on a standard (laptop-)keyboard.
